Swirls, haze, light scratches

Paint Correction in Castle Rock, COEvery swirl shows up in direct sun.

Machine polishing removes swirls, haze and light scratches from the clear coat, so the color reads deep and true again.

Paint Correction, the way we do it.

Paint correction is machine polishing that cuts swirls, haze and light scratches out of the clear coat. Most swirls start with washes and towels, dealer washes included, and they spread into a web in direct sun.

Colorado adds winter deicer and sand, which film and dull paint, then spring dust, bugs and tree sap. The job starts with a hand wash, iron remover and a clay bar, so no grit gets dragged under the polisher.

Polishing then goes panel by panel, with the polish and pad matched to how the paint responds. Dark paint shows every defect, so black, navy and deep red cars need the closest look.

Polished paint is bare, so protection goes on last: wax, a sealant or a ceramic coating. A Google reviewer says Juan brought a Subaru STI’s paint back to life, and it was still glossy months later.

What is included

Paint Correction: what happens on the day.

  1. 01

    A look under the lights

Swirls, haze, oxidation, tar and sap are checked first, and the polishing plan comes from what the paint shows.

  2. 02

    Wash, iron remover, clay

A hand wash and clay bar lift fallout, tar and road film, so the polisher is not grinding grit into the finish.

  3. 03

    Machine polishing

Swirls, haze and light scratches are cut out panel by panel with Menzerna polish and pads chosen to suit the paint.

  4. 04

    Wipe-down check

Polish oils can hide fine swirls, so each panel is wiped clean and checked under light before it counts as done.

  5. 05

    Protection, last

Polished paint is bare. Wax, a sealant or a ceramic coating goes on to protect it, depending on how you drive.

  6. 06

    Care afterward

Monthly washing is our advice. Maintenance plans run monthly, twice a year or yearly. Ask which one fits.

Under the light

What correction actually removes.

Swirl marks hide in shade and overcast light. Put a single bright light on the paint and they show up as fine rings circling the reflection. That is how every job here starts: paint checked under a light before anything is quoted.

  • Left As found: wash swirls ring the light and blur it.
  • Right Corrected: one tight, clean reflection.
Drag across the panel to move the light. A drawing of the idea, not a photo of a job.

One pass or two, or something heavier?

How much polishing a car needs depends on its paint, not on the price of the car. Our Silver coating level names two-stage correction, and Gold and Platinum include correction as well.

Photos taken in daylight, plus how the car has been washed, tell us a lot before we ever see it. The cost depends on vehicle size and paint condition, so the quote comes after a look.

One-step polish
Light swirls and haze. One polishing pass with a finishing polish brings the gloss back.
Two-stage
A cutting pass to level the defects, then a finishing polish to refine the gloss.
Heavy defects
Deep scratches, etching or failing clear coat may need more, or can only be improved. Send photos and ask.

How booking works

Four steps from first text to finished.

  1. 01

    Call or text

Send photos of the worst panels to (970) 518-0600, with the year, make and model. Sunlight shows swirls best.

  2. 02

    Pick the spot

Mobile across the Denver metro. With no good spot, our garage is first come, first served.

  3. 03

    Prep, then polish

Wash, iron remover and clay come first. Polishing follows panel by panel, checked under light as each one finishes.

  4. 04

    Protect and maintain

Wax, sealant or a coating goes on last. Ask about monthly, twice-a-year or yearly maintenance plans.

Where it stops

Polishing fixes defects in the clear coat. It will not fix hail dents, rock chips or scratches that cut through it.

FAQ

Paint Correction questions.

How long does paint correction take?

It depends on the size of the vehicle, the color and how deep the defects run. Our top detail with a coating takes 8 to 12 hours, and most of that is prep and polishing. Dark paint is harder to correct because it shows every defect.

Will it remove every scratch?

Scratches that stay in the clear coat polish out. Deeper ones may only be reduced, because polishing takes off clear coat and there is only so much to give. Send photos and ask what your paint can take.

Do I still need wax or a coating?

Yes. Polished paint is bare, so the last step is protection: wax, a sealant or a ceramic coating. A coating sits on top of the clear coat as a hard layer and seals in the finish, so correction comes first. Ask which suits the car.

Does a new car need correction?

Often a light one. Transport film residue, rail dust, tar and fallout settle on new paint, and dealer washes leave swirls. We look first and say whether polishing is worth it or a wash and clay will do.
